The second TATS Open Day will be taking place on Saturday 13 May 2017 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in Turvey Village Hall. This is your chance to find out about all that goes on to put on a TATS show. There will be a chance to try on some costumes and get your photos taken, look at props and scenery, learn about lighting and sound and indulge in ‘vintage’ tea and cakes served by members of the cast from the forthcoming Dad’s Army production. The show is underway and the first night has been well received! Photos to follow soon. Tickets (£10 or £8 concessions) can be purchased from Turvey Central Stores for Thursday and Friday nights. Shows start at 8:00pm. Saturday is SOLD OUT!

Su Jenkins, TATS thespian, technical assistant, helper, confidante, treasurer, chairman and friend to all – played her last role for the society, Geraldine in the Vicar of Dibley, on 4 March.

Members and friends rallied round to give her a rousing send-off by staging ‘Su Jenkins – this is your TATS life’, after the final performance, where current Treasurer, Simon Evans played host and members dressed up as some of the key characters Su had played in her time with TATS.

Su and husband Steve are moving to Devon and all at TATS, will miss them greatly and wish them well in their new life.

The final performance is over, the set has been dismantled and calm arrives back to Turvey Village hall after another tremendously successful TATS show. Playing to capacity audiences, this time they set their sights at ‘The Vicar of Dibley’, a comedy based on the popular 1990s TV sitcom starring Dawn French.

Audience reaction is the best way to gauge success and there have been many many plaudits from the packed houses this week many of whom say they laughed til they cried, whilst others described the quality of characterisation from the TV show from the whole cast as simply stunning.

This TATS production was directed by Deborah Evans.

About 100 people packed the Village Hall for TATS’ fifth Showbiz Quiz in January, hosted once again by question masters Philip and Karen Pickwick. It was a close-run contest with 15 teams vying for first place and, as usual, a lively do!

 

TATS now has a substantial costume facility that is also available for non-TATS use. Costumes may be hired by both members and non-members at very reasonable rates.
